6 Reasons to Use Mobile Banking

Most of us rely on our smartphone for several different purposes, whether it’s for sending out work emails, managing social media accounts, or taking photos. Why not add mobile banking to the list? Banks have been rolling out user-friendly, reliable mobile applications that bring many everyday banking functions to customers’ fingertips. iPhone and Android devices are supported by nearly all banks, and some even support Windows phones or Blackberrys. More than half of Americans use mobile banking all the time. Are you still not convinced? Here are six reasons that will change your mind.

  1. Mobile banking is convenient.
Alright, this is a no-brainer, but it deserves to be said. Going to a bank during your lunch hour is time-consuming, and many banks are closed by the time people get off work. Take care of business from your smartphone instead.
  2. Cashing checks is a lot easier.
Cashing or depositing a check can be a major inconvenience. If you aren’t close to your bank, then you have to carve time out of your day to go to the nearest branch. With your bank’s mobile banking app, you can take a picture of a check and have it deposited into your checking or savings account.
  3. Money transfers are easy and instant.
Need to transfer money from your checking to your savings account? You can take care of it through your mobile banking account. For most banks, transferring money between linked accounts through the app won’t delay the availability of the funds.
  4. Smartphones are becoming even more secure.
Are you scared that hackers can steal your information from your mobile banking app? The actual chances of that happening are very slim. Protecting your information is easy. Just update your apps and password-protect your device and your banking application. Take an extra precaution and install an anti-malware app that will alert you to suspicious or fake applications.
  5. Track your purchases from the palm of your hand.
No need to rely on paper statements or online ledgers anymore. You can see all of the transactions in all your accounts by accessing your mobile banking application. Having easy access to your transactions allows you to spot any suspicious activity as soon as possible. Now you don’t have to wait until you reach a computer!
  6. Text notifications can alert you to fraud.
If you haven’t set up SMS notifications for your bank account, you might want to. Since most cell phone plans offer unlimited texting (but not unlimited data), this may be better for you.  You can opt to receive text message alerts whenever you make a transaction on your account, or whenever suspicious activity occurs.
