Best Items to Include on Your Baby Registry

Baby registries can be tough to plan out. Parenthood brings a lot of unexpected turns, so you need to be as prepared as possible. You also want to make sure you are asking for the right items and keeping them in the best price range so that everyone you invite to your baby shower will be able to get you something. Here is a list of the best items to include on your registry.

Everyone attending your baby shower has different financial situations and will be able to afford different amounts. When running a baby registry, try to diversify your prices to fit everyone’s budgets. You should expect more from your close friends and family, though usually no more than $100. General etiquette usually dictates spending at least $20 on a gift, even for acquaintances.

Now that you know what price range to look for, here is a look at some important items you should consider including on your registry:

  • White noise machine: Sleep aids can be hit or miss for newborns since every baby will react to them differently. However, white noise machines have consistently proven effective for most babies and will help you to get at least a few restful nights during those hectic early days.
  • Electric nail file: If you don’t like the thought of using tiny, sharp nail clippers on your child, consider asking for an electric nail file instead. These devices eliminate the hassle of using clippers on your baby’s nails and prevent the possibility of getting small nicks on their fingers.
  • Breast pump: If you know you will need to pump early on, asking for a breast pump in your registry ensures you have this important item right away. It is better to have one early if you are considering pumping than to wait until later and not have it.
  • Car seat: Necessities should be the first items on your registry, and car seats should always be at the top of the list. Your car seat will be used constantly and it is essential for the safety and comfort of your baby, so requesting one in your registry is a good way to check this item off and not have to buy it later. Make sure that you request one that has a handle so you can carry your child around in it.
  • Stroller: If possible, request a stroller that connects to your car seat. This reduces the bulk and makes the entire stroller much easier to transfer. A stroller should be requested for the same reasons as the car seat; you will be using it a lot so it is best to have it as soon as possible.
  • Nose cleaner: Babies will get stuffy noses, and they don’t yet have the ability to simply blow their own nose. Having a nose cleaner like this one will make the process of keeping your baby’s nose clear much easier.
