There are numerous ways for an aspiring expatriate to determine the cheapest places to live. You can look at the Consumer Price Index, the cost of land, average rents vs. income, and more. But while raw numbers account give important information, they're not everything. A list of the "cheapest places to live" is inevitably going to include some places where people don't particularly want to live. This list, however, is an attempt to collect the most affordable places people do want to live.
