Project management software can make any task infinitely easier, but these programs aren’t very cheap. If you’re in the market for new software or just to upgrade, here is a general overview of the cost of the different types of project management software. (All facts and figures come from Capterra.)
Cloud Software
Cloud software, or web-based software, is perfect for someone who needs to collaborate across different platforms. This software is often accessible using your smartphone or tablet. Rather than charging a flat fee, cloud-based services offer monthly subscriptions based on your business size and the amount of data you’ll use.
Small businesses will allow around 15 users, a limit of 10GB of data, and up to 25 projects. The price can range from $19-$99 with an average of $44.80. A mid-sized business ups the user amount to 50, allows for up to 50GB of data, and up to 100 projects. The monthly cost for a mid-sized business is $25-$300 with an average of $130.50. Finally, an enterprise allows for unlimited users, data, and projects, but can cost $39-$750 per month with an average of $207.90.
Installed Software
Installed software allows for single users and works on your desktop. This software you buy outright without having to pay a monthly fee. For this reason, it is much more expensive than the cloud- or web-based option, but installed software offers more security with the price increase. On average, the cost of software is $4,592.50 but can range anywhere from $600-$10,000.
