Can I Afford A Personal Trainer?

A personal trainer provides many benefits, such as motivation, dietary advice and, most importantly, weight loss results. However, even those serious about getting fit often don’t hire a trainer. The main reason for this is lack of finances. It can be very expensive to hire a trainer. However, the cost of a personal trainer can reasonably fit into a person’s budget with a little creativity.

How Much Does It Cost?

For most people, hiring a trainer will cost anywhere from $25 to $100 per session, with the average price falling somewhere in the middle. If you live in a place like Manhattan or Beverly Hills, the price can be as much as $400. The price you pay often depends on the qualifications of the trainer, the distance the trainer would have to travel, and the length of time of the training.

How Can I Afford It?

First, evaluate how much money you are able to spend on a trainer each month. After that you can determine how many sessions you want and then determine what price per session you can afford. Hiring a trainer for a lifetime can be prohibitively expensive. The good news is, most people don’t require a trainer for the rest of their lives. You can use a trainer to kick-start your exercise regimen, to quickly get in shape for a special event, or just for the motivation and accountability it will provide. So set a limit. You may look at your budget and decide you will only use the trainer for one month, three months, or six months. After you attain a certain goal, you can stop using the trainer’s services and apply what you have learned to continue training on your own.

How Can I Find a Trainer?

If you have a gym membership, that’s a good place to start. Gyms often have trainers on staff. You may be able to use the trainer as part of your gym membership, but it’s also possible you will pay extra for those services. If you hire a trainer through your gym, you have the assurance of knowing that he is board-certified, which is definitely something you want in a trainer. Many trainers also offer private training sessions at your home or office for an extra fee. If your gym doesn’t have any trainers, perhaps your friends can give you a recommendation. Another good method is to search online to locate a trainer. There are online directories such as Health Club Directory, The Fitness Almanac, and Personal Trainer Direct. If that doedsn't work, you can always search “personal trainer” plus your city’s name. You can then research the trainers to evaluate which of them will best suit your goals and your budget.

The cost of a personal trainer is a great investment in yourself. The benefits of hiring a trainer include weight loss, body toning, improvement in diet, and better overall health. If you can find a trainer at a reasonable price, it can certainly be worth the time and money spent.
