How Much Does It Cost to Build a Prefabricated Home?

The term “prefab” home doesn’t sound like a great home option, but you’d be surprised. These homes are a highly customizable and energy efficient way to live in style. Modular homes are also a much more affordable way to get the house of your dreams, but how much do they cost to built? It all boils down to what you envision or want.

Prefabricated homes are highly customizable from the outside to the inside. You can include things such as marble countertops, a porch, or even a garage. Unfortunately, all of these features increase the cost of your prefabricated home. Additionally, the price can be impacted by where you purchase your home, the size, and type of build. On average, you should expect to pay anywhere from $180 to $220 per square foot.

Keep in mind that when you purchase a prefabricated home, this isn’t the only thing you'll pay. You’ll also need to pay for the land, property taxes, and much more. The only way to get the total price is to have both a real estate agent and a general contractor working together to determine the cost of your prefabricated home.
