Walters retired in 2015, but over her time working as a journalist, she accumulated a total net worth of $170 million. With nearly a $12 million annual salary, Walters was one of the highest-paid news anchors in the history of the industry. She is one of the most well-known news anchors of all time and received a Lifetime Achievement Award from the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences. She passed away in December of 2022.

Walters was a pioneer for women in journalism as she first gained popularity on The Today Show in the '60s, and her popularity led to her becoming co-host of the show. Plus, she was an incredible interviewer, having sat down with everyone from Barbra Streisand to Fidel Castro.
